Key points at a glance:
Product Description
HD Camera Module V2 for Raspberry Pi
This HD Cam is compatible with all* CSI-capable models of the Raspberry Pi board. High-quality HD videos and high-resolution photos directly on the RasPi are therefore no problem.
The camera module uses the IMX219PQ image sensor from Sony, which allows video and image recordings with high speed and sensitivity.
Image noise or blurring is reduced by the V2 HD Cam module and the automatic control functions, e.g. for exposure, white balance and light intensity detection, enable optimum handling.
* An optional adapter cable is required for RPi Zero (mini CSI to CSI)
Details of the PiCam module:
- high-quality image sensor for photo and (HD) video
- 8 megapixel resolution with fixed focus
- offers 1080p (FullHD resolution), 720p60 and VGA90 mode

The supplied, approximately 15cm long cable is plugged between the Pi camera and Raspberry Pi. It is operated using the MMAL (Multi-Media Abstraction Layer) functions or the V4L API (Video for Linux).
Very well documented libraries such as Picamera Python are available online.
Typical applications:
