Like all devices in the UniFi family, the USW-PRO-XG-48-POE can be seamlessly integrated into the UniFi ecosystem. Configuration and management is carried out via the central UniFi Network application, which has supported comprehensive Layer 3 functions since version 9.x, including:
- DHCP server and DHCP relay
- Inter-VLAN routing
- Static routing
- Access control with 802.1X/RADIUS
- VLAN tagging, IGMP snooping, QoS and LACP
The integrated 1.3-inch touch display on the front shows status information, PoE consumption, connection status and error diagnostics in real time – particularly practical in the data center or for rack monitoring.
Real application example: IT infrastructure for an educational campus
In a recent customer project, we deployed the USW-PRO-XG-48-POE as the central backbone device for a large school campus. The aim was to set up a scalable infrastructure for over 100 Wi-Fi 7 access points, 80 IP cameras and numerous end devices in classrooms, administration offices and workshops.
The solution with the USW-PRO-XG-48-POE at its core:
- All access points are supplied with power directly via the switch (PoE++)
- VLAN segmentation separates administrative, student and IoT traffic
- 25G uplinks connect the switch to the core firewall and a storage cluster
- A redundant connection with 2x 25G was realized by LACP
